MUX/DEMUX Plug-in Module

The MUX/DEMUX-4-EX plug-in module is a passive optical multiplexer/de-multiplexer designed for metro access applications that represents the state of the art in fiber optics design. The MUX/DEMUX-4-EX plug-in module multiplexes and de-multiplexes four CWDM wavelength channels from a two-fiber circuit and passes the other channels. design allows the creation of cost-effective unidirectional network traffic rings or point-to-point links.Multiplexed wavelengths are interfaced to any of CWDM transceivers on the equipment side.The MUX/DEMUX-4-EX plug-in module plugs into one half of a 1RU, 19” rack mount chassis for simple installation and modularity. This Chassis based system allows network equipment manufacturers to add WDM capability to any existing network device than supports GBIC and SFP interfaces.Each equipment port of the MUX/DEMUX-4-EX plug-in module is color coded to match the wavelength of CWDM transceiver. This allows ease of installation and troubleshooting without having to remove the transceiver from the local equipment.The MUX/DEMUX plug-in module delivers dramatic cost savings to network equipment manufacturers, enabling them to develop metro access systems that are lower in cost, easier to provision and simpler to operate.
