The PT5821 Excalibur series of integratedswitching regulators (ISRs) combines outstandingpower density with a comprehensive list offeatures. They are an ideal choice for applicationswhere board space is a premium and performancecannot be compromised. These modules providea full 16A of output current, yet are housed in alow-profile, 18-pin, package. The integral coppercase construction requires no heatsink, and offersthe advantages of solderability and a small footprint(0.736 in² for suffix ‘N’). Both through-holeand surface mount pin configurations are available.The PT5821 series operates from a 12-V inputbus and provides a convenient point-of-load powersource for the industry’s latest high-performanceDSPs and microprocessors. The series includesoutput voltage options as low as 1.0VDC.Other features include external output voltageadjustment, a ±5% margin control, on/off enable,short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown. A560-µF input capacitor and 330µF output capacitorare required for proper operation.
