The ISL6327A controls microprocessor core voltageregulation by driving up to 6 synchronous-rectified buckchannels in parallel. Multiphase buck converter architectureuses interleaved timing to multiply channel ripple frequencyand reduce input and output ripple currents. Lower rippleresults in fewer components, lower component cost, reducedpower dissipation, and smaller implementation area.Microprocessor loads can generate load transients withextremely fast edge rates. The ISL6327A utilizes Intersil’sproprietary Active Pulse Positioning (APP) and AdaptivePhase Alignment (APA) modulation scheme to achieve theextremely fast transient response with fewer outputcapacitors.
